Limerence: The state of being infatuated or obsessed with another person, typically experienced involuntarily and characterized by a strong desire for reciprocation of one’s feelings but not primarily for a sexual relationship. Also known as New Relationship Energy (NRE).

New Relationship Energy (NRE): The exciting feeling at the beginning of every relationship. This can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few years. Scientifically, this is caused by oxytocin and vasopressin being released in the brain. Also known as limerence.
